Raymond MacDonald and Christian Ferlaino worked on a composition in co-creation with the participants in LoMus Lab Simonetta Santoro, Benedetta Pagliaro, Rossella Manieri, Cassandra Gulotta, Carlotta Costabile and Anna Catanzaro. The piece is titled This is Our Thing and is written for any instrument and sound-producing object.
This piece was written with and for the performers as a co-creation emerging from the work the co-composers and facilitators Ferlaino and MacDonald undertook with the other co-composers and participants in the workshop series LoMus Lab at the University of Calabria.
The musical material has emerged in self-reflective dialogue on musical identities and musicality between the workshop participants. These reflections inspired This is Our Thing, a collaborative musical piece that uses improvisation, graphic scores, conduction and interaction strategies to explore the group’s musical dynamics.
